Student Advisor Progam

The Friends of Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium initiated its  Student Advisor Program in 2024.  The goals of the Student Advisor Program are to:

    • Provide opportunities to engage in science/space programming with the Arlington public, and
    • Grow individual skills in public speaking, graphic design, technology and public engagement.

Student Advisors provide valuable support by volunteering at planetarium shows, providing input to planetarium show selection, helping fellow students develop films for Domefest, writing articles for the newsletter,  updating FOAP social media accounts, and participating in other activities throughout the year.

In recognition of their efforts students receive:

  1. A certificate of participation,
  2. A certificate of participation and letter of recommendation, or
  3. A certificate of participation, letter of recommendation, and a household membership to Friends of Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium,

To apply:  This program is open to all Arlington Public High School Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors.  The Friends of Arlington's David M. Brown issue an application announcement through Arlington Public School's Peach Jar in Spring.

Funding to support this program is derived from public-event ticket sales, a portion of memberships, and donations. Every donation makes a difference to your community!
