Clockwork Skies

Jan. 17, 2016, 1:30 p.m.

Clockwork Skies explores the patterns of motion and time in our skies. Participants of the Spring 2010 Blender Production Workshop were set a challenging task: develop their own skills by creating an immersive, full dome planetarium show under very strict time limits. The result is the entertaining yet informative show, Clockwork Skies.

The full dome show will be followed by a discussion of the calendar and related topics by Dr. Alice Monet.

Stick around after the show for a hands on activity for kids, in the entrance hall of the Planetarium. With the guidance of Friends’ founding member, Carolyn Lange, participants will learn how to make their own sundials. They can take home the materials or make the sundials before the second show begins. There is no additional charge for this fun activity!

Target Audience: all ages.

Running Time: Full dome show, 5 minutes; followed by a 30 minute presentation.

For more information, see FRIENDS OF THE PLANETARIUM JANUARY WEEKEND, January 15-17, 2016: “ALL ABOUT TIME!”

Doors open: 1 p.m. Show begins: 1:30 p.m.

Our capacity is 58 seats. We set aside 20 seats to accommodate those who arrive without a reservation, so if the show is sold out you can still try to attend by arriving close to 1 p.m. However, although we will do whatever we can to seat all comers, there is no guarantee of admission without a reservation.
