The 2014 SMASH (Sports, Math, and Scientific Hypotheses) Contest is now open! All Arlington students from Kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate. The goal of this contest is to unite ART, SPORTS, and SCIENCE, by encouraging students to create pictures to illustrate any connection between the world of sports and the principles of math & science.

There are two divisions: grades K-2 and grades 3-5. Entries must consist of an original illustration, on an 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper, in any medium – paint, pencil, ink, crayon, etc. An example might be a drawing showing how a baseball player transfers energy to a bat and from there to a ball to hit it out of the park! That's it! The rules are simple. Just be sure to have fun and USE YOUR IMAGINATION!

Entries must be postmarked by Tuesday, December 3rd, and mailed to:

Multiple prizes will be awarded in each division, and will include T-shirts and other goodies. A special awards ceremony will be held in the Spring.
