Please consider a donation to the David M. Brown scholarship fund for Giving Tuesday

We would like to provide you with an opportunuty to help educate the science and technology leadership of the future by contributing to the training of an aspiring Arlington scientist or engineer. Your charitable donation to the David M. Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund enables a talented student to pursue their undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).

Since its establishment in 2013, the Fund has helped six Arlington high school students transition to college, including female and minority students. Students receive $2,000 per year for up to 4 years while they pursue a STEM degree. With college costs rising, community grants assist our young people to concentrate on learning, to remain on track, and to emerge without crippling debt. Your generosity guarantees this local resource will continue to support our students and their educational goals. Even a small gift from you will make a big difference!

Local hero Captain David M. Brown (1956-2003) was a NASA astronaut, Naval aviator and flight surgeon who died in the Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-107) tragedy. He was a 1974 graduate of Yorktown High School, having also attended McKinley Elementary School and Swanson Junior High School. He continued his education with a degree in biology from the College of William and Mary and a medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School.

The scholarship fund honors Dave Brown's life and work by providing the next generation of scientists with the tools to change the world.
