“The Life Cycle of Stars”

Sept. 21, 2019, 7:30 p.m.

A talk by Dr. Jessica Rosenberg, George Mason University

Stars are born, live their lives (often for millions or billions of years) and then die. Sometimes they die with a bang and other times they die with a whimper. We are star-stuff. Without this cycle of stellar life and death life as we know it would not exist.

Dr. Jessica Rosenberg, George Mason University.
What happens at the end of a star's life leaves an imprint on the material left behind and on the next generation of stars. We will track the lives of stars from birth through death and back into future generations of stars and the imprints this process leaves on the regions surrounding them.

Duration: 45 min, including introductory full-dome show and Q&A after talk. Suitable for ages 9 and up, and adults.

For more information, see Stars: Powerhouses of the Universe October 18–20
