Full-dome show, SuperVolcanoes, followed by guest speaker and Q&A

Sept. 22, 2018, 7:30 p.m.

The planetarium show Supervolcanoes looks back at rare classes of eruptions that have marshaled the incredible energy that lurks beneath the surface of planet Earth. The program also moves beyond Earth to explore the impact of giant volcanic eruptions around our solar system. The audience will fly down to Neptune's frigid moon Triton, and onto the ultimate volcanic world: Jupiter's moon Io. On a visit to a legendary North American hot spot, Yellowstone National Park, the film asks: can a supervolcano erupt in our time?

After the show, there will be a short talk about volcanoes, and an opportunity for questions.

Total Duration: 60 minutes; Target Audience: All Ages.

Renovation of the Arlington Education Center will be starting soon, and one of the most visible indications is the construction fence surrounding the building and parking lot. Despite appearances, the lot is still open and accessible, and can be used by visitors to the planetarium.
